Get to Know Juvederm Dermal Fillers

Updated: Mar 28, 2021

Juvederm products are some of the most popular dermal fillers on the market today and for a good reason. Getting injected with fillers is a relatively minor procedure and usually you can see the results instantly. Juvederm fillers are all naturally decomposable and don’t cause harmful effects to the body, which is why they are often recommended by dermatologists.

If you’re thinking about getting Juvederm injections or facial filler, here’s what you need to know.

Why choose Juvederm?

All Juvederm fillers contain hyaluronic acid (HA) - a substance naturally found in the human body - which helps the skin attract and retain moisture. As we age, the hyaluronic acid content of our skin is reduced resulting in a loss of moisture and the development of lines and wrinkles.

The hyaluronic acid found in Juvederm fillers improves the skin’s hydration, restores volume, reduces wrinkles and gives the skin overall a smoother, more refreshed appearance.

Juvederm is non-toxic and biodegradable, meaning it breaks down over time and is eliminated naturally by the body. The treatment is also completely reversible – if you are not happy with the results, the filler can be dissolved, and you go back to your normal appearance.

Which facial areas can be treated with Juvederm?

Juvederm products have been formulated to treat various noticeable concerns associated with the aging process. Here are some of the areas that can be treated with Juvederm fillers:

Under eye hollows, sunken eyes or eyebag problems

Under-eye hollows, sunken eyes and eye bags are some of the most popular treatment areas for dermal fillers. These issues can become more visible as you get older, and they can affect your overall appearance, making you look tired. Even if you get enough sleep at night, it doesn't always help this problems. You could try covering the affected area with makeup, but dermal filler injections will provide a more long-lasting and a more effective solution without needing to undergo surgery.

Nasolabial Folds

Nasolabial folds are often known as smile lines in the thicker skin between the mouth and the nose. These lines can be seen as you grow older, and they can affect your overall look. It's challenging to cover the area with just makeup; dermal filler injections provides fill, helps lift these lines and create smoother and younger skin.

Sagging Skin

Loose, sagging skin is quite a common concern among people seeking anti-aging treatments. This is often more visible around the eyes, jawline, and mouth area. Dermal fillers can help with loose skin in different face areas by filling the focus area and plumping up the skin.

Cheeks and Midface

As we go through the aging process, the midface will gradually begin to lose its volume and plumpness. Juvederm can be injected into the cheeks to help restore lost volume for an instantly younger appearance.

Marionette Lines

Marionette lines are facial wrinkles that happen with natural aging. These lines reach from the corners of the mouth to the outer areas of the chin. They can create an appearance of a permanent frown or a sad look. Juvederm treatment improves these lines by adding volume in the chin and at the mouth's corners.

Chin Augmentation

The shape of the face is also affected as we get older. With chin augmentation you can create an appearance of a slimmer facial appearance even when the body weight remains the same. Juvederm treatment improves these areas by adding volume in the chin for a long-lasting and safe solution – You can discuss your ideal face shape with your doctor, and even design the facial shape together.

How long does Juvederm last?

Generally, Juvederm can last from six months to two years, depending on the product and the area being treated as well as how much product has been injected and how fast your body reacts to the product. Our bodies will start breaking down the hyaluronic acid filler naturally over time, so eventually you might want to book another appointment to schedule a touch-up.

Different people might have different reactions and expectations towards fillers. For a person who wants to only try dermal fillers, Juvederm would be a good option since the effects will gradually disappear without any continuing risks.

The new generation of Juvederm is vycross collection such as Voluma, volbella, volift can last longer, less painful and less swelling compare with the old generation of Juvederm such as Ultra or ultra plus that why Metro Bangkok Clinic work only the vycross collection.

Which Juvederm filler is best for the lips?

Juvederm Volift and Volbella XC have both been FDA approved for lip augmentation. Juvederm Volift is a very popular choice for plumping up the lips, praised for its consistency and comfort. Volbella XC is a slightly softer, offering slightly plumping effect and hydrate your skin as well as helping to improve vertical lines and wrinkles around the lip area with smooth and natural results.

If you need a lip filler that lasts longer, you may want to opt for Volift, but if you're looking for a comfortable dermal filler experience, Juvederm Volbella XC may be your best choice.

Which Juvederm filler is best for nasolabial folds?

Juvederm Volift and Voluma are mainly used for the treatment of nasolabial folds and marionette lines. Juvederm Volift is created for mild-to-moderate wrinkles and lines, whereas Juvederm Voluma is primarily for folds and deeper wrinkles.

How much Juvederm will I need for each problems?

How much filler is needed depends on the area that is being treated and the desired result. Enough filler should be injected to see satisfactory results without the overfilling outcome. Typically, each area need 1-2 milliliters such as undereye hollows, nasolabial folds, chin augmentation, cheek, temporal augmentation. Some area need less such as the lips will need at one syringe for proper augmentation. This is just sample evaluation for each problem but before we doing the procedure we have to evaluation again.

Are Juvederm fillers safe?

Juvederm has a proven track record for safety. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) first approved Juvederm for the correction of facial wrinkles in 2006, and more than 2.4 million procedures using hyaluronic acid-based fillers were conducted in 2016 in the US alone.

However, we recommend to always consult a doctor or a certified dermatologist who understands the procedure well and will be able to explain all the options and clear up any concerns you might have.

Because with the same amount of dermal fillers can make you much different if you know how to use it correctly.

Does Juvederm have any side effects?

You may experience some mild to moderate swelling and some people can have little bruising after the procedure. These side effects should go away on their own in 5-7 days. Some other common side effects include redness or discoloration, itching, tenderness or a small bump, all of which should go away in less than a week.

In order to avoid any of the above, it is best to avoid strenuous exercise, sunbathing, makeup and alcohol for 24 hours after the treatment and drink a lot of water 2 lites per day for the next 2 weeks.
